A little history
These fertile places among pine and eucalyptus groves were discovered by the Belgian king Leopold II, who in 1902 built a villa on the peninsula for his lover - Caroline La Rua. In the middle of the XX century it was owned by the Italian industrialist Giovanni Agnelli. For lovers of cinematography, she is well known for the post-war period tapes: "Red shoes" (1948) and "Catch a thief" (1955).
Following the Belgian crown, the charm of the local places was appreciated by the aristocracy of the Old World. Now only the wealthiest people settled here, who, incidentally, liked to surround themselves with artists, poets and intellectuals of their era. At Cap Ferrat, Isadora Duncan, Somerset Maugham, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jean Cocteau and the Rothschilds liked to have a rest. Today it is a cozy world of Mediterranean natural luxury, which you can enjoy while strolling along the numerous coastal paths.
