The Museum of the Middle Ages primarily attracts not by its collection, but its location. And it is so that you can not find it at once: the exposition "was registered" in the heart of Stockholm, under the bridge, between the Royal Palace and the Opera House. Walking on the "North Bridge" (Norrbro), be sure to stick your head from his terrace Strompartera, then you will see the treasured tablet "Medeltidsmuseum". An adventure walk through the old Swedish capital begins here

In short, the main "treasures" of the museum are the 14th century cemetery wall erected in the 1530s by the reign of Gustav Vasa, the ship of the 16th century raised from the bottom, as well as the remains a secret corridor leading to the Royal Palace under the strait. And all this "good" museum fund received at a time, in a heap. It's just in 1978-80. here there were extensive archaeological excavations, and all because of the rebuilding of the Riksdag building (the Swedish parliament). Discovered in the course of work, the finds were put together and created one of the most interesting museums in the country.

In short, the main "treasures" of the museum are a 14th-century cemetery wall erected in the 1530s under the rule of Gustav Vasa, raised from the bottom ship of the 16th century, as well as the remnants of a secret corridor leading to the Royal Palace under the strait.

The museum specialists made a lot of efforts to properly sort out the collection and create an exposition that is not only fascinating but understandable even for those who do not even know the Swedish language . Therefore today in the Medieval Museum you can see and literally on your fingers understand how the residents of Stockholm used to live several centuries ago, namely from the 1250s to the 1520s . Here is the corner of everyday life with furniture and fabrics, there - tools, a little farther popular in those days crafts, and next to each other there was an exceptionally entertaining children's corner with toys, whistles and all kinds of fintiflykami important for medieval kids . All this is accompanied by perfectly executed figures dressed in the fashion of those centuries . In short, this museum does not feel sorry for will lay an hour and a half of priceless vacation time .

The museum has a gift shop with postcards, magnets, ornaments and books - all for a romantic medieval theme.

Lovely Museum! September 3, 2014

Masha Bernie
was here in June 2013
Maybe this impression was so impressive to me from the fact that it was the first one we visited when arriving in Stockholm . But nevertheless, then there was Vasa and other museums on the museum island, and Tom Tit . But when I remember our trip, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Museum of the Middle Ages . Atmospheric, with sounds . silence, dimmed light, it allows us to sink into time in those times that we idealize, but .there's nothing to be done . And they were . With taverns, children, monasteries, temples, plague, ships and gallows, castles, fires, kings, wars and . sometimes trembling ran over the skin, until then suddenly you feel like a newcomer from other times in the Middle Ages . The museum is not big, but very pleasant . I advise everyone!
