The National Museum of Modern Art in Bucharest is located in the world famous Palace of Parliament - a symbol of the totalitarian past of Romania . To erect this monument of human gigantomania in the second half of the 1980s whole blocks of the Balkan Paris, "as Bucharest used to call it, which deprived the city of its face and considerable charm . The palace survived its creator Ceausescu and gradually began to integrate into modern life . As another attempt to develop the palace spaces in 2004 . and the National Museum of Modern Art in Bucharest opened . He occupied a four-storey a building in the west wing of the Palace of Parliament, almost completely made of glass . Even the elevator in it is glass . The collection of the museum is not very large yet, but definitely worthy of attention .

More about the exhibition

Contradictory sensations are caused by an exhibition of paintings that glorify the Romanian dictator Nikolai Ceausescu and his wife . Paintings painted by court artists who depend on state orders . Nikolai and Elena Ceausescu are depicted in numerous everyday portraits in various everyday situations: here Ceausescu is in the company of the Romanian kings of past centuries, here the couple go to the metro, they also built, but the couple visits the construction of the future "Palace of Nations", the buildings of the modern Palace of Parliament . H one of the pictures depicts a friendly sit-down Ceausescu with King Stephen, with whom he so loved himself to compare .

On the last floor of the museum there are exhibition halls for temporary exhibitions, a library, creative workshops, a hall for meetings and cultural events.

After the examination of the exposition one can climb the panoramic elevator to the last floor, where there is an open terrace. There is also a café and a small bookshop, so you should order a cup of coffee and enjoy the view of Bucharest
