Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Monastery, one can say, the same age as the other main monastery of St. George's - St. George's Cathedral, also built in the 13th century. But unlike his "colleague" a lot of tests fell on the share of the monastery. The Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Monastery, as historians write, was destroyed four times. The first time he suffered at the hands of the Khan Batu himself, in the 14th century Tokhtamysh attacked the monastery, in the next century he was defeated by the Golden Horde Khan Yedigei, and also the monastery suffered a lot during the Time of Troubles.
Despite this today the St. Michael's Archangel Monastery is in good condition and receives tourists all year round. The abode is easy to find in the city, it stands on the territory of the former Kremlin. Since the Mihailo-Arkhangelsk Monastery is in operation, there are services here, but there are no restrictions for tourists (except for the museum complex mode).
Alongside the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Monastery, in the walls of the Kremlin there are Znamenskaya the Refectory Church, the Gate Church of St. John the Evangelist and St. George's Church. You can visit these monasteries every day, except Tuesday, from 9.00 to 17.00 hours. The ticket office for purchase of entrance tickets (fee for them is small) is open until 4 pm. On Friday, the entrance for tourists to the monastery grounds is organized from 9.00 to 16.00 hours.
Once you are here, do not miss the moment and visit an interesting exhibition of carved platbands of the craftsmen of St. George's. Exhibits, as a rule, are exposed directly on the inside of the Kremlin walls.
