The church of Nikita the Martyr, or simply Nikitskaya church in St. George's-Polish was built in the late 18th century. Today, the temple of beauty is not inferior, perhaps, to no Orthodox sight of the city. The Nikitskaya church, built in the style of classicism, has an elegant structure framed with white columns from several sides.
Despite the modest size above the temple, there is a so-called drum with elongated windows , and above it a dome of light blue color rises. Nikitskaya church in St. George's is beautiful at any time of year, and therefore it is visited on a par with St. George's Cathedral and St. Michael's Archangel Monastery - the main sights of the city. If to return to history, the Nikitskaya church during the Great Patriotic War, like many orthodox shrines, lived up to bad times.
In the beginning of the 90s the revival of the Nikitskaya church began, and today it is a real Yuryev decoration -Polish. You can get to the Nikitskaya church from the central square, passing Krasnooktyabrskaya street.
