The oldest settlement of the Kideksha threatening Finnish tribes is located in the Vladimir region at the confluence of the Kamenka River in the Nerl just 4 km from Suzdal.

Subsequently, both princes were killed by Svyatopolk the Damned and canonized by the Russian Church as holy martyrs. A bit of history
In the days of Yuri Dolgoruky Kideksha was a fortified princely town, standing apart from the place settlements of the noble boyars. While staying on the bank of the Nerl the Kideksh fortress controlled the river routes to Suzdal and was strategically important outpost of the principality, since it was on the Nerli that trade was conducted with other lands.
At the end of the 12th - beginning of the 13th centuries the village was already quite large, Nowadays the remains of the trees are located
In 1238 Kideksha was ruined by the Tatar-Mongol tribes and soon lost its status. Since the 14th century the Kidekshskaya church housed a man's monastery, and since the 18th century a rural parish.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions Kidekshi
The main attraction of Kideksha is the white-stone the church of Boris and Gleb, built in 1152 at the behest of Yuri Dolgoruky, decided to lay a fortified residence here
Kidekshskaya church served as a burial vault for one of the sons of Yuri Dolgoruky, Prince of Belgorod and Turov Boris Yuryevich, who died in 1159. Here his wife Maria and their daughter Efrosinia were buried. In the interior of the church there is a fragment of frescoes of the 12th century, depicting two birds and a vegetative pattern in the form of interwoven leaves and flowers stems.
Together with the Transfiguration Cathedral in Pereslavl-Zalessky, the construction of which began in the same year 1152, the church of Boris and Gleb is the oldest monument of Vladimir-Suzdal architecture.
In addition to the church of Boris and Gleb in Kideksha, the warm Stephanieus church (1780 g .), the Holy Gates dating back to the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, and a tented bell tower with a passage arch built around the same time as the gate . Curiously, up to the 20th century, Ivan the Terrible donated by Ivan the Terrible the case of taking Kaz no bell, dated 1552 year . Stefanievskaya same church, built in the best traditions of the execution of the Suzdal churches, consists of two volumes of different heights and crowned its cupola on the small drum .All three buildings and gates surprisingly form a single architectural ensemble .
Best view of Kideksha opens from the shore of the Nerl or from the bridge over the river.
