Fedor Ivanovich Chaliapin loved the Caucasian Mineral Waters. He came here a dozen times. Sometimes he gave concerts from the veranda of one of the houses in Kislovodsk. Actually, this house became known as "Shalyapin".
Shalyapin's dacha is a house in the Art Nouveau style, built in the early 20th century. It stands near the local train station amidst powerful spruce and pine trees. Here, the original interior, created according to Roerich's sketches, has been preserved.
Today the Shalyapin Dacha Literary and Musical Museum is located in the mansion. This is a kind of cultural center of national importance. Annual "Chaliapin Seasons" with participation of famous Russian basses, children's festivals, film shows, meetings and excursions are held here.
The musicians and poets who like to visit the countryside like to visit the dacha are discussing the state of modern culture and sharing their impressions of the rest in Kaslovodsk
