The castle of treachery and love is a high mountain and a cliff that resembles the figure of a seated man. So the mountain was nicknamed by the locals. As an explanation, they lead the legend - the great love of two young hearts. History, of course, is sad. It could not be otherwise in such an insidious place.
This mountain is located in Alikonovskiy gorge, 4 kilometers from Kislovodsk. What is the legend about? Many years ago the prince's daughter Daut and the shepherd Ali fell in love with each other. Father Dauty, of course, was against such a relationship and decided to give his daughter to marry an elderly neighbor. However, on the eve of the wedding, the separated lovers decided that they would be together forever, and therefore they had to die. Only Dauta was frightened of death, and Ali did not - he jumped down from the rock and crashed.
Dauta got married, but soon died. Her father was petrified with grief and turned into a cliff. And the stream under the mountain, where Ali crashed, became a river, which they called Alikonovka. So the rock turned into the Castle of treachery and love
In the 40s of the last century an original restaurant in the form of a medieval castle opened at the foot of the cliff. Some of its forms were exactly the same as the elements of a natural castle, so the building fit organically into the landscape. The restaurant lasted until the late 1970s.
