Add a review about the Savior Transfiguration Cathedral in Uglich

Located on the territory of the Uglich Kremlin, the Transfiguration Cathedral is a magnificent example of Yaroslavl architecture of the 17th century. A slender little temple with a central dome and four surrounding glaciers invariably attracts the attention of tourists - not only thanks to the elegant architecture, but also to the magnificent interiors. On its walls and arches you can see 59 frescoes with New Testament scenes. Despite the fact that they represent copies of Renaissance works, they were performed by their native native in the beginning of the 19th century.

Pay special attention to the "Transfiguration" - a copy of the famous Raphael fresco, which can be seen in the Vatican. Well, the six-tier iconostasis includes icons of 17-19 centuries, painted by Moscow masters of icon painting.

The belltower of the cathedral is famous for the fact that it was from here in 1591 that the alarm bell sounded when Tsarevich Dmitri was found dead. The original set of bells did not survive, but the bell tower, as it does, beats time - it has a modern clockwork.
