The Crimean Tatar Academic Theater in Simferopol, a unique cultural institution, has opened its doors for more than 100 years. This is the only theater of the Crimean Tatars in the world.
The Crimean Tatar Academic Theater has been leading its history since the 14th century. Of course, at that time it did not exist in its current form, but it was at that time that a kind of scenic performance appeared in the palaces of the Crimean khans in the city of Solkhat, which at that time was the capital of the Crimea.
The first "real" Crimean Tatar theater was opened in Bakhchisaray in 1901, and at that time in the theatrical performances only men took part, performing even female roles.

In 1989, the newly renamed Crimean Tatar Academic Music and Drama Theater began a new milestone in its history on the eve of the restoration of the Crimean Tatar autonomy as part of Ukraine . The "Arzy kyz" play based on the play Yu . Bolat . became the premiere performance at the opening of the theater in 1990 .
