Ethnographic Museum of the Transbaikalian peoples is a museum complex in the open air in the near suburb of Ulan-Ude - the picturesque area of the Upper Berezovka microdistrict. One of the largest open-air museums in Russia, it was opened in mid-summer 1973 on the territory of 37 hectares. More than 40 architectural monuments and 11 thousand exhibits are collected on this square in seven ethnographic complexes.
The territory of the Ethnographic Museum is divided into several permanent complexes: archaeological, Evenki, Buryat, Pre-Baikal, Transbaikal, old-timer, Old Believer, urban. The exposition of each of them consists of farmsteads and outbuildings with implements of labor, household utensils, furniture, etc., which are typical for settlements from the early 19th to early 20th centuries.
There is a "living corner" typical representatives of the fauna of Transbaikalia: bears, wolves, deer, roe deer, sarlyk, camels

Archaeological complex
Here at the open site the burial ground of the Hun culture is located: in the Middle Ages the Hunnus was surrounded by burial places with round flat stone masonry. There are also stone pillars, "watchdog" stones, etc. In the closed pavilion of the complex, archaeological monuments of the Nizhny-Ivolginsky Hunnish settlement are collected
Evenki complex
@ Even in the Evenk complex plague, labazy and Evenk utensils are demonstrated. Buryat Complex
This complex is a collection of felt and wooden yurts and a dugan - a cult Buddhist structure. The peculiarity of the Dugan represented here is that it is an example of not ancient religious buildings, but the revived Baikal cult construction, borrowed in part from Russian architecture, partly taken from Devajin-dugan, taken from the Gusinoozersky datsan. Inside there is the famous "Tunshi" panel, illustrating the Indian fairy tale about four animals that harvest fruits from a tall tree
Predbaykalsky complex
Here is the farmstead of the Cossack Buryat and the winter house of the rich Buriat S.B. Safronov built in 1900. The building was transported to the museum from the village of Kharety in the Nukut district of the Irkutsk region
Zabaikalsky complex
This ethnographic complex contains the exhibition "From the history of exile and hard labor of Transbaikalia" and contains evidence of the exile history of the region laid here even the first exiles Ukrainian Hetman Demian Mnohohrishny in 1673 from the village of Kul Ctanok Khorinsky District of Buryatia was brought here three-chambered landmark barn - every 25 vents in the path of exiles and convicts settled similar stages and poluetapy to sleep
old-complex.
The oldest structure of the complex is the house of a farmer built in 1880, brought from the village of Baturino in the Baikal region of Buryatia. On the opposite side there are the buildings of 1919: a barn, a barn, a double-walled barn transported from the village of Klochnevo of the Pribaikalsky district. The house of the Cossack ataman complements the picture.
Old Believer Complex
The exposition consists of the Old Believer family houses, exiled to Siberia in the 18th century. This is a typical street of the one-sided building of the late 19th - early 20th century: the home of a well-to-do peasant with outbuildings, the hut of a peasant artisan, the house of a rich Old Believer and the Old Believers chapel a little further away. All buildings are real, brought from the surrounding villages, there is also an exhibition of household equipment, smithy, a shop and even a rich gate storing the certificate of the birth year of one of the granddaughters of the owner.
Municipal Complex
@ Here are the houses of the old Verkhneudinsk: the town house with a mezzanine built in 1900 from the street Pochtamtskaya, 22, and a corridor-type house built in 1909 from Lenin Street, 67. The house with the mezzanine once belonged to the official: today there is an exposition of the traditional interior home of a prosperous citizen of the early 20th century. The two-storey building of the corridor house gives an idea of the buildings intended for renting furnished rooms
