The construction of a manor in the center of St. Petersburg required considerable investments. As a result, when the representative house was ready, Vorontsov could not keep it. Elizabeth donated 40 thousand rubles to Mikhail Illarionovich for the arrangement of the Vorontsov Palace, but this did not correct the situation. The count lived only five years in the estate, and then, confessing his bankruptcy, he was forced to transfer the estate to the treasury.

The elegant fence of the Vorontsov Palace, designed according to Rastrelli's drawing, is unique. It should be noted that at that time art casting was still rarely used in the construction of architectural objects in Russia
