Derzhavin Museum-Estate, part of the complex of the All-Russian Pushkin Museum, is a reconstructed 18th century manor house consisting of a complex of buildings. The center of the estate is a house on the Fontanka that has survived to this day, where the outstanding Russian poet Gavrila Romanovich Derzhavin lived for almost a quarter of a century.
From the beginning of the 1790s until the death of Derzhavin, the poet's house was one of the cultural centers of St. Petersburg, the focus of spiritual life capital Cities. Here there were Bezborodko, Stroganov, Fonvizin, Karamzin, Krylov, Zhukovsky and others. And since 1811 in the big hall of the house the famous "Conversation of the lovers of the Russian word" arranged meetings
