Concert Hall Romanian Athenaeum is truly outstanding . It's not just another concert site, it's a real art temple, a symbol of the spiritual tradition of the Romanian people . From the history of the Athenaeum
The Romanian Athenaeum has its glorious history since 1888 . The initiators of the "temple of art and science" art workers of Romania, among whom were diplomat Konstantin Esarku, writer Vasile Aleksandresku Ureki, politician Nicolae Creculescu . In 1865 . they established a cultural society "Romanian Athenaeum", and then they organized a long-term fund-raising for this event s under the slogan "Donate a lei for Athenaeum! ". The project of the concert hall itself was entrusted to the architect Albert Galleron, also known for the construction of the National Bank . The technical opening of Atheneum took place in 1888 ., but the work on finishing and decorating the interiors continued for another decade .
In 1992 the government together with the Council of Europe, allocated nine million dollars for a large-scale reconstruction of the collapsing building, during which the magnificent frescoes of the auditorium were restored.
Athenaeum's exterior and interiors
The Neoclassical building of Athenaeum, favorably shaded by a small green park, looks very catchy and attracts attention . The facade of a building resembling Greek temples is decorated with six strict columns, a tall pediment with openwork windows turns into an elegant dome of the Byzantine type . From inside the concert hall the same as outside . On the first floor there is a conference hall with a luxurious interior, the audience on the upper floor is just as presentable, the parterre seats 600 people, and 52 spectators are fitting in the boxes . The interior is decorated with a huge fresco illustrating the most important the milestones of the history of Romania since the conquest of Dacia by Emperor Trajan .

The cost of tickets for symphony concerts is 40-60 ROL, tickets for concerts of chamber music cost 20-35 ROL (main concert hall) and 15-25 ROL (small concert hall).
