Collections of the National Roman Museum are exhibited in four buildings: the halls of the term of Diocletian, the Palazzo Massimo, the Palazzo Altemps and the Balbi crypt. It houses one of the richest collections of antique sculpture, and the museum complex itself was opened in 1889

Palazzo Massimo
The palazzo Massimo exhibits collections of Roman jewelry, numismatics and ancient Roman art from the late Republic to the end of the Roman Empire, frescoes and mosaics found in Villa Farnesina, plus several works of Greek art
Palazzo Altemps
Palazzo Altemps (15th century) keeps a collection of works of art by his former master Cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps, a collection of antique sculptures of the Ludovisi family -Company, considered the best throughout Italy, the Mattei collection, Del Drago, the Egyptian collection.
Crypte Balbi
The Balbi crypt exhibited artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations, thanks to which the history of Rome's development is widely represented, frescoes and coins of different eras are exhibited.
The terms of Diocletian
The Diocletian's terms themselves are a museum exhibit, plus there are a variety of temporary exhibitions, a collection of manuscripts and sculptures, archaeological materials from the period of the Roman Empire.
Useful Information
Museum Complex Works Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 13:30 and from 14:30 to 19:00 (that is, with a break for a traditional Italian siesta). The day off is Monday. The entrance costs from 4 to 6 EUR.
