The government of Milan decided to plant trees on the cathedral Piazza Duomo in the center of the city. Work on gardening has already begun.
The new project is organized in preparation for Expo 2015, which will attract about 20 million people. This is the first time in history that trees will appear on the square.
In the center of Piazza Duomo it is planned to organize a green island, and on each side to plant two rows of trees with a height of no more than 4 m to create a shadow. According to the spokesperson of the Milan administration, Chiara Bisconti, tree species related to the city's history were chosen for the planting of greenery.
It is reported that the plants will blossom all year through a special climate system.
