Districts
The modern Ashkelon includes several independent districts: the shopping Migdal, Afridar - a region of hotels and villas adjacent to the beaches and, finally, Atikot, populated mainly by returnees. The tourist zone stretches for 12 km along the sea coast, where sandy spits form three picturesque lagoons.
Afridar is also famous for the abundance of restaurants, cafes, bars and a large green park . In Migdal you can find excellent shopping, pedestrian streets with many shops , restaurants, cafes and pubs, which operate around the clock . This area was previously a simple Arab village of Majdal, so there are still ancient buildings and shacks . Finally, the Dunes are an area in the south of the city, near the industrial zone, where preserved untouched wild and very picturesque sand dunes, and also there are cute little animals not found in Israeli cities .
Transport
There are several bus routes along the city, public transport hours: from morning to midnight. The fare is about 4 shekels. Also inexpensive taxis, but the cost must be stipulated in advance, if, of course, the driver demonstratively did not turn on the meter. The cost of travel around the resort is approximately 20-25 shekels. However, Ashkelon is rather small, because the city (not the center, but the city!) Can be crossed for a couple of hours during a pleasant walking tour.
Shopping and Shopping
There are three shopping centers in the city. Giron - the oldest, smallest and most unpopular. Nearby is the Concert Hall and the Town Hall. Huzot is located in the north of the city, near the Migdal area, is considered the largest in Ashkelon, there is even a cinema here. Lev is located in the poor outskirts of the Shimshon resort and includes both simple shops and a market that runs every Tuesday

You can eat at a budget in one of the eateries that fill the streets of the town: falafels, shawarma. Local prefer Flafel Boaron in Migdal. You can drink beer in Beer Hole in Khan (all the same Migdal). Meet local people and gaze at the Israeli youth - in Hanasi 1 (Ha'nasi st., 1, center of Afridara). Between the quay and the national park there are also two bars - Hofman and Ananas, which are always filled during the summer. Popular clubs can be found in the vicinity of Delila Beach.
