Add a review of the National Maritime Museum of Ireland
Located in the once suburb of Dublin, and now its full-fledged district of Dun-Laré, the National Maritime Museum of Ireland is a detailed testimony of the rich history of shipping and maritime commerce in the country. In addition to interesting exhibits - models of historical sailboats and items of ship life - here we should pay attention to the building itself: the museum occupies the premises of the ancient church of St. Michael
The basis of the museum exposition is artifacts related to the work of the historical ship "Great Eastern" on the bottom of the North Sea. The captain of the ship painstakingly assembled a vast collection of materials - on-board magazines, archive photographs, drawings and various testimonies. Also in the museum you can see the model of the legendary ship Sirius, the first ship on a steam engine that crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
And the largest exhibit of the Maritime Museum is still the working lamp taken from the Bailey lighthouse in Northern Dublin. It was designed in 1902 and shined with unprecedented power at that time - 2 million candles!
