Solemn opening of Leo Tolstoy's alley
January 30 in the City Grove of Budapest under the hymns of Russia and Hungary, a solemn opening of the alley named after Leo Tolstoy was held

In 2011, the mayor of Budapest, Istvan Tarlos, decided to rename one of the largest areas of the Hungarian capital, which for more than fifty years bore the name of Moscow. On January 30, apparently in the form of compensation, in the City Grove, near the Transport Museum of the nameless trail, the mayor Tarlosh named Lev Tolstoy

At the solemn event, in addition to the mayor of Budapest, the Russian Ambassador Alexander Tolkach and the chairman of the Tolstoy Society Olga Syuch were present.

Istvan Tarlos spoke in favor of cooperation between Russia and Hungary, especially in humanitarian matters. He also noted that Tolstoy's works have not lost their relevance, despite the past century. The Mayor expressed his confidence that the Russian and Hungarian peoples will become closer to each other and this step will be an important milestone in supporting contacts between countries.
