How to get here

This is the first port where ferries coming to Rhodes. You can sail to Patmos by ferry from Piraeus, from the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean Sea, from Kavala, from the Cyclades, Rhodes and other Dodecanese islands.

Grigos is a picturesque seaside village (4 km southeast of the port of the Rock island) inside the bay of the same name with sandy beaches, protected from the winds lying opposite the island of Tragonisi. Nearby is the beautiful sandy beach of Kalikazu, and to the south - the beach of Diakofti. Further south-west of Diakofti is the famous Psil-Ammos beach. From the Rock it is more convenient to get there by boat.

Another nice beach is in the northern part of the island, 6 km from the Rock is the sandy beach of Campos.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Patmos

Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, founded by Saint Christodoulus in 1088 (a rich collection of manuscripts, a description of which was published by the monk Sacchellion in Athens). Currently, about 40 monks live in the monastery, worship is performed every day from 3 to 6 am

Cave of the Apocalypse

Near the monastery there is a cave, revered as the place where the Apostle John the Theologian about 67 years received his "Revelation" - the cave of the Apocalypse. In the cave there is a church with two side-altars: one is the cave of Revelation, and the second is a spacious chapel in the name of St. Anna. The cave, like the monastery, is included in the number of World Heritage sites.
