Restaurants
As usual, the more tourists in the city, the fewer places where there is a tasty and inexpensive feed . But a couple of establishments in Olympia still it is possible to note . The "Aegean" tavern features a long and intricate menu, with like "Another Greek Salad", but in fact everything turns out to be very tasty and at home . It can be found on one of the alleys adjacent to the main street at a noticeable angle . B tavern "Bacchus" in nearby Myraka, the god of wine would obviously not mind eating: lamb with oregano is cooked here simply superbly . By the way, there is a rather nice boarding house with a swimming pool and a view to the valley . in one more another. In one more from the suburbs, Floka, there is a tavern "O Thea" with a large terrace excellent grill .
Ancient Olympia
The Olympic Games of ancient Greece were a grand event dedicated to the deities and sport. The complex, organized for their conduct, impressed both in scale and beauty. Even now, despite the considerable damage to which the city was exposed, it is possible to imagine the former grandeur of the remaining fragments.
Partially preserved gymnasium and palestra, designed for training athletes, the temple of Hera, the temple of Zeus, when the huge statue of Zeus, which contained in itself, is one of the seven wonders of the world, and, of course, the first Olympic stadium. By tradition, revived in 1928, it is here during a beautiful theatrical ceremony that the Olympic flame is lit, which is then transported to the site of the next Games.
