The collection of the Museum of Porcelain (Porzellansammlung), founded in 1715 by the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong, now has about 20 thousand artifacts. Impressive is the collection of Chinese porcelain of the Ming and Qing dynasties, acquired by Augustus from King Frederick William I in exchange for the dragoon regiment. Another part of the collection is a collection of Dresden china, particularly Meissen Porcelain Museum
