The most "non-cure" and one of the most picturesque lakes in France, Lake Allo (Lac d'Allos) is nestled in the valley between the mountain peaks of the Alps of High Provence. Tourist life on its banks is not at all, but it does not prevent the lake from being among the most desired places for hiking. Lake Allo formed a couple of tens of thousands of years ago as a result of the descent of the glacier, and the water in it is exceptionally clean and just as cold. And this is one of the largest high-mountain lakes in Europe - at an area of 60 hectares, Lake Allo is at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level.

What to see
The magnificent virgin nature of the Alps, the harsh peaks, emerald valleys and thick coniferous and deciduous forests - the main "feature" of the vicinity of Lake Allo. Since the reservoir is located in a national park, the tourist activity here is strictly regulated, and there are no settlements on the shores of the lake. Nevertheless, there are several accommodation options on the territory of the Mercantour - mainly eco-farms and tourist cottages.
In the Tourist Office of the Allo Valley you can take a map of the region indicating the tourist routes around the lake. To get around it around, you need about 1-1, 5 hours. Infrastructure is not here, so water and "snack" should be reserved in advance. We remind you that it is strictly forbidden to leave waste of your life in the park
