Many already know that in Prague there is a museum not for the faint-hearted, in which goosebumps run and embraces horror - the Museum of Instruments of Medieval Torture (Muzeum stredovekych mucicich nastroju), telling about the dark past only the Czech Republic, because the instruments of inquisitorial torture were collected all over Europe.
Torture or inquisition in the Middle Ages and before it was quite normal, although today these words alone are already not doing well. Only in the late 17th century, Europe limited the conduct of torture, and in the 50's. In the 18th century they were completely banned.
In the Museum of Torture, probably the darkest place in Prague, located in the basement of a gothic house on Krzyzhnytsky Square from the Charles Bridge), why it is even worse to enter it, sixty instruments of torture of 1100 are exhibited and almost natural very colorful expositions for those who want to tickle their nerves.
For one and a half hours of visiting the museum you are simply amazed at how sophisticated the human mind is in its cruelty. After all, what kind of devices did he come up with for man's torture: from saws and axes to "skull crushers" and "Spanish boots."
There were also more terrible instruments of torture . For example, "count" - everyone knows the expression to put on the count . It is clear that the person was dying in terrible agony . "Cherepodrobilka" - no less terrible device for bullying . The head of a man was placed in a helmet, fixed on a wooden stand, and tightened it with screws, until the skull cracked like a nut . "The Spanish boot" by the principle of "crusher" also pulled, only now the foot of the guilty . And what is it worth "Rack", like a bed . She was laid on the accused with bound hands and stretched his legs until the ligaments and joints tore .
Pads, a chair with thorns, a belt of fidelity and chastity (for men and women) , Witcher's armchairs, chairs with thorns and other terrible tools for torture - from all this diversity, the frost rips through the skin. And yet, despite all the horrors, the museum of torture in Prague is visited with great interest by the guests of the city and by the Prague residents themselves
