Eilen-Donan Castle is located on the largest Scottish island of Skye. Yes, the path is not close, but, believe me, it's worth it. The island, despite the proximity of megacities, still remains untouched by globalization and this is what attracts tired tourists from the noisy resorts. The majestic castle of Eilen-Donan stands on a small island surrounded by mountains and in the middle of a leisurely lake. Nothing has broken the silence and calm here for more than eight centuries.
Despite the venerable age, the stone castle is perfectly preserved and kindly meets all the tourists who skidded to Skye. To get to the castle Eilen-Donan, you need to pass on a stone bridge - the same age as the palace. According to the legend, this monastery was once inhabited by monk-ascetic Donan, hence the name of the castle.
Now the medieval structure belongs to the descendants of the Mac-Ray family, who live here to this day, though , in separate rooms from tourist excursions rooms.
The working hours of the castle Eilen-Donan: 10:00 - 18:00 (from March to November), 9:00 - 18:00 (July - August).
Admission: 6 GBP for adults, for students and pensioners: 4, 5 GBP, for children (up to five years) free of charge. The territory of the castle Eilen-Donan has more than once become a film set for feature films. Perhaps the most famous among them is the multi-part picture "Highlander."
