Water jets, obeying the beat of the melody and light, dance as if alive. Every night, this amazing symphony of splashes, music and color with a new force falls in love with the native Catalans and guests of Barcelona. All this is a unique night fountain show on the hill of Montjuic, before Palau Nacional at the end of Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina.
And the name of this Spanish miracle is La Fuente Magica de Montjuic (The Magic Fountain of Montjuic), or Singing Fountains. It is no coincidence that they bear the proud title of the most famous fountains of Spain and are called as otherwise, like magic fountains. The magic demonstrated by the Singing Fountains was first presented to the public on May 19, 1929 - the opening days of the International World Exhibition of Barcelona. The extraordinary water view and the sheer scale of the project impressed the residents and guests of the city so much that it was hard for people to believe in all this.
And today the Magic Fountain deserves admiration. Imagine the size of the pool is 3000 square meters. m, the volume of circulating water exceeds 3 million liters, a unique game of water orchestra creates 3,620 jets. The duet of water and lighting gives viewers 7 billion different combinations of shapes and colors.
Thank you for the unique architectural monument of Barcelona we should tell the Catalan engineer Carlos Bigas (Carles Bugias). A young engineer and a talented artist, despite the disbelief of others in the fact that his amazing fountain project is realizable, has embodied his bold plans into reality. In just one year, with the strength of 3 thousand workers, Carlos Bigas realized his dream - he built La Fuente Magica de Montjuic, at the same time, at the beginning of the World Exhibition.
