Add a review about Kirov Square

Kirov Square is located in the heart of Irkutsk at the intersection of Sukhbaatar and Lenin streets next to the City Hall building. This is the main city square, as all significant events of the capital of Irkutsk region pass here. And just this is the most favorite place for meetings and walks with residents and guests of Irkutsk.

During its history, the Kirov Square in Irkutsk changed its name 12 (!) Times.

Many flowerbeds smell in the summer square, trickles of a large round fountain, and under the trees in the shade "benches" benches. In winter, the main Christmas tree of Irkutsk glitters on the Kirov Square, as well as an ice town with slides and sculptures.

Near the Kirov square there are important state departments: the city duma and administration, the control and accounting chamber and the central administration of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for Irkutsk region .

The chapel of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the Church of the Savior, the Cathedral of the Epiphany and the Roman Catholic Church are also located here.

From the Kirov Square it's easy to go to any Irkutsk area, as many city routes are running there.

Perhaps no attraction of Irkutsk has survived as many renames as Kirov Square. In its history, it changed its name 12 (!) Times.

The most "long" name that the square wore was the Kremlin. So it was called for almost a century and a half.
