The Ioanno-Predtechenskaya church in Kolomna is considered to be one of the oldest in the entire Moscow region. And although historians still argue about the exact date of its foundation, it is still known that the temple was built in the first half of the 14th century. During its long history, the Church of St. John the Baptist suffered much.
So, in the 30s of the last century the temple was heavily plundered and boarded up and reopened only in 1993. Since that time services began here, but the bell tower of the church resounded only in 2008 (during the Soviet era the bells of the Ioanno-Predtechenskaya church in Kolomna were dismantled and melted.)
Now the temple meets tourists in an updated form and invites to worship. Unfortunately, many sacred objects of the Ioanno-Predtechenskaya church have not reached us, for example, such as the Gospel of the 17th century and the iconostasis. The only surviving icon, "John the Baptist. Angel of the Desert ", is kept in the Tretyakov Gallery in St. Petersburg
