Altai Territory climate climate
The climate in the Altai is sharply continental. The weather can be unstable, with frequent changes in temperature at any time of the year, strong winds and precipitation. On the plains usually warm summers and harsh winters, at the beginning of June and the end of August, there may be sudden cooling. In the foothills and low mountains of Altai, the winter is noticeably softer, and the summer is much cooler, there is a lot of precipitation, especially in the cold season, and a powerful snow cover is formed.
In the Kulunda desert, dust storms usually occur in May. And in November, February and March, blizzards and snowstorms often swarm there instead of them.

In Biysk, the second largest city in the Altai Territory, there are many sights. Among other things, there are preserved picturesque mansions, built in the style of Art Nouveau and eclecticism. In the Denisova cave, archaeological research has been conducted for many years: more than 20 cultural layers belonging to different epochs have been discovered there. The oldest artifacts are about 300 thousand years old. And 15 km from the Denisova cave there is a cascade of waterfalls on the Shinok River, the largest in the Altai Territory. The three-level waterfall has a total height of about 70 meters
In the Charysh caves there were found the remains of extinct animals: a mammoth, a woolly rhinoceros, a bison, a cave hyena, a fossil deer, as well as the bones of the now extinct animals, which inhabited the Altai Mountains in the century before last.
Archaeological Complex Tsarskiy Kurgan is located in the valley of the River Sentelek. This large mound, once in the Altai Krai, was built in the 5th century BC. e. group of the Stateleck genera. Here, a bypass ring of plates, an inner ring and the most notable part of the burial-memorial complex are preserved - a row of 19 tallest steels in Altai up to 4, 5 m in height.
