The most beautiful building in the city is the main house of the estate of the merchant Chistov the elder. An imposing mansion with a mezzanine on all sides the house is girded with a molded cornice, the first floor windows are decorated with masks. It houses the Opochininsky Library, founded in 1875 by the nobleman Opochinin. Thanks to him in Myshkin one of the first among the cities of Yaroslavl province appeared a public library.
