The Yessentuki Museum of Local History is located in an old building in the style of South Russian Art Nouveau, built in the late 19th century. This museum plays an important role in the cultural life of the city, because with the help of its exhibits, it introduces visitors to memorable pages in the history of Yessentuki. Crossing the threshold of a two-storeyed mansion, visitors seem to return hundreds of years ago and look at the evolution of the region in retrospect.
Essentuki Museum of Local Lore was established in 1963. It was named after the founder, the teacher V.P. Shpakovsky. For 15 years, this museum was enthusiastic until it won in the public museums review in 1978 and passed to the state.
Museum collection
The museum space consists of two exhibition halls. The first one is designed for permanent and temporary exhibitions, and the second, the so-called art salon, exhibits the works of the masters of Kavminvod, as well as the products of folk crafts.
Before the eyes of visitors there passes the whole history of the city, imprinted in countless exhibits . The paleontological department assembled information about the distant past of Pyatigorye, the geological department tells tourists about the origin of the main property of these places - mineral waters . At the stands dedicated to the nature of the region, exhibits reflecting peculiarities of local flora and fauna . The exposition of the historical department demonstrates the feats of the inhabitants during the Great Patriotic War, and the department of the history of the Cossacks will tell about the appearance of the Cossack army .
The fund of the Essentuki Museum of Local History stores more than 30 thousand exhibits, among which there are rare and very valuable items. For example, furniture made for Elizaveta Petrovna, an arithmometer from the first Russian hydropower plant, the first printed leaflet on the Caucasus Waters, etc.

The museum is located in the central area of Yessentuki, near the Theater Square, near the central entrance to the spa park. Landmarks - a city department store and a concert hall to them. Chaliapin. From the railway station to the museum can be reached by any bus or shuttle bus, passing just one stop.
Entrance: 50-100 RUB, for pensioners, students, schoolchildren: 30 RUB, for preschoolers: 10 RUB. Visiting of temporary exhibitions requires a separate ticket, the cost of which varies from 10 to 100 RUB. Excursion service in the museum is chargeable, the cost is 100-400 RUB for groups of no more than 30 people, individual tours cost 300-500 RUB, escort of the guide outside the museum - 1000 RUB.
Working time: Wednesday - Sunday from 10:00 to 18 : 00, day off: Monday, Tuesday. The ticket office closes at 17:30. Every second and fourth Wednesday the museum works until 21:00, entrance is made by prior request.
