Add a review about the Norwegian Ethnographic Museum

The largest and craziestly interesting Norwegian Ethnographic Museum - a real city of exhibits in the open air. In summer there are a lot of tourists here any day of the week, and their interest in the sights is more than justified: the main occupation here is to wander around the well-groomed park that houses 140 reconstructed buildings in every detail from all corners of Norway

Given that most of the exhibits are located on plein air, it makes sense to visit the museum on a fine day, leaving inclement weather for a visit, for example, to the Town Hall, the Opera or "visiting" to Heyerdahl and Amundsen.

Museum exposition

Ancient and modern residential buildings, outbuildings and others household facilities - the main exhibition of the Norwegian Museum of Ethnography. The tourist route winds between 140 buildings mainly 17-18 centuries, located according to belonging to the regions of the country. Here you can see the old barns, the traditional stores of supplies "stubbur", raised on piles and village houses with a roof covered with earth - a fantastic sight, especially in the spring when the roof blossoms.

The section of the Old Town in the museum is a copy of the middle Norwegian town of the early 20th century . There is also a village shop and an old gas station, and in summer tourists are shown traditional techniques of spinning and making ceramics . Another pearl of the exhibition is an old church, in the traditional for Norway technique of laying vertical logs . By the way, this is not a reconstruction, but a real 13th century temple, transferred from the town of Gol . Well, the smallest are invited to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the Norwegian farm - goats, sheep, cows and t . d . and ride a horse-drawn cart .

In the covered exhibition hall, located at the main entrance, there is an extensive and very interesting exhibition devoted to the Norwegian folk art. Here you can see old toys, items of national costume, household utensils. And the exhibition tells in detail about the Sami culture - the sad long-term persecution of the Saami and their modern life in Norway.

In the summer time on Sundays, folk songs and dances are arranged at the Ethnographic Museum, beginning at 14:00.
