How to get to Ithaki
Twice a day from the port of Patras (via Sami to Kefalonia) two ferries Strintzis Lines sail:
- at 12.30 (arrives in Piso Aetos at 4pm) and
- at 20.30 (arrives in Vathi at 00.30)
On Saturdays there is no evening ferry. Fare (as of April 2011): € 17, 80 - adult, € 8, 90 - child, € 55 - car.
From Nidra on Lefkada ferry to Frikes on Ithaca on Thursdays goes to 8.45, on Sunday - at 11.30. The journey takes 1, 5 hours. Ticket price: € 5.30 per adult and € 26.50 per car.
In the high season, the ferry Ionios Pelagos connects Astakos, Piso Aetos and Sami. A three-hour trip will cost € 8 (€ 33 per car).

Transport
The bus between Kioni and Vathi, with a stop in Stavros and Friskes, goes on weekdays twice a day. The taxi is quite expensive (€ 25 for the Vati-Friskes trip), so the best option for traveling around the island will be renting a moped or a car.

Beaches of Ithaki

Entertainment, excursions and attractions Ithaki
Loisu Cave is the cult center of the early Greek civilization. Here, shells were found with inscriptions showing the cult of Hera, Athens and Artemis, and it was here that the archaeologists discovered the main findings allegedly related to the life of Odysseus on the island.
