The exposition of the Museum of Modern Art (Kunstmuseum Bonn), founded in 1947, is devoted to the Rhine Expressionism and post-war German art. The museum is part of the Museum Mile of Bonn
The history of the museum begins when the professor of the University of Bonn, Franz Obernir, in 1882, bequeathed to the city his collection of works of art. Later, in 1949, the collection was replenished with the current symbol of the museum - a picture of the German artist Augusta Makee "Rope Walker". And in 1992 the museum moved to a new building, at that time it was the most expensive museum building in post-war Germany
At the moment, the museum houses the largest collection of canvases by German artists of the second half of the 20th century
