In the heart of the medieval beauty of Prague, on the ancient Hradčany Square, a monument to the first president of the country Tomáš Garrig Masaryk is erected. The opening of the sculpture took place on March 7, 2000 in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of a general pet, a prominent statesman and just one of the most popular presidents of the Czech Republic. The figure, I must say, turned out to be a large one: a three-meter bronze sculpture stands on a granite pedestal in the center of the cozy Hradčany. Sculptors Josef Weitz and Ian Bartosch created a monument after the model of master Otakar, taking the original "model" and increasing it three-fold. The original form on which the monument was created is stored today in the Prague Pantheon of the National Museum, it, by the way, was born in 1931.
In the Prague version of the monument one can see only a laconic inscription "TGM", without deciphering the name of the president. But this is not required: everyone knows who this is, so Masaryk is popular and we love in our country.
